Top 8 Shows of 2009

These were the most memorable live sets of 2009 for me.

1. Animal Collective, Henry Miller Library, Big Sur, CA, late May - the outdoor forest setting made for a fun dance party

2. Bonnie Prince Billy, El Rey, Los Angeles, CA April - it was the first time I saw Will Oldham live after being a fan for a long long time, and olivia and laura were there to share it with me

3. The Raincoats, Part Time Punks Festival at the Echoplex, October - they played "No one's Little Girl" and it was even better than expected

4. Camera Obscura, Henry Fonda Theater, Los Angeles, CA June - i seemed to run into every indie-pop friend I'd made over the past 10+ years in LA and Anh's dancing made me smile.

5. Nosaj Thing with Light Show by Fair Enough, Brainfeeder Sessions at the Independent, Los Angeles, CA, December - it was great to see so many friends and witness the presentation of projects i'd heard were in the works a while back

KSCR shows are kind of a separate category of favorite shows. These two were especially rad:

KSCR FEST w/ Crystal Antlers / Mika Miko / The Happy Hollows / Blank Blue / Avi Buffalo / Tijuana Panthers, sunken garden next to Annennberg School of Communication, USC Campus, March

KSCR Presents Nosaj Thing / Rainbow Arabia / Ras G / Mr. Dibiase, Ground Zero Coffeehouse, USC Campus, October

Rachel's festival planning and execution were inspiring and it was super fun to host a beats related show at school.

ok. the Linda Perhacs event, Redcat Theater, Los Angeles, October belongs here too - it was especially fun to be there with Sandra, Julia, Laura and Kristina
